What your notice must include
Our process follows the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), but we respond to notices in this form from other countries too. To be valid, your notice must include:
- Your contact details: full name, postal address, phone number and email address (and company name, if any).
- The copyrighted work: enough detail to identify it, for example "the photo at https://example.com/gallery/1" or a book's title, author and ISBN.
- The infringing material: the exact address (URL) of each page or file on our network that you say infringes, one per line.
- A good-faith statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
- An accuracy statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notice is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner."
- Your signature: a physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).
You may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, if you knowingly misrepresent that material is infringing. If you're unsure whether something infringes your copyright, consider speaking to a lawyer first.
